I decided the time is now to make that bird feeder!! The weather was unbelievably beautiful outside today, so I grabbed B. (6) to help me. Here's what we did:
1. You need a cardboard milk carton. Trace a template onto the front and back, then cut out. Don't forget to do both sides! :)
2. Make a hole about an inch or two below the opening. Put a stick or dowel through the holes to make your little perch.
3. Next, make a hole in the top of the carton, then string yarn or wire through the hole.
4. Fill up the bottom of the carton with bird seed.
5. Hang it in a tree or wherever you find that birds can use it! Stay close and enjoy seeing the birds that come to your yard!

I had to laugh about your milk carton ending up in the trash *grin* I've got two of them in the broom closet that constantly are getting in the way waiting for the kids to make another feeder with but we just haven't gotten to it yet. Some days I wish mine would end up in the trash by mistake *grin*

That's a great birdfeeder and a great story. We haven't made a bird feeder - I went out and bought some cheap (not cheep) ones at w*l-M*rt.
We were rewarded by some finches. Our favorite was a purple finch. It's very pretty. and of course, a bevvy of sparrows.
I'm glad you stopped by - I'm doing my best not to make my cell phone cranky, but it's not been easy. *L* It's dropped a few calls and been so cantankerous as to take 10 minutes to get back on-line. :-)
That is such a cute idea and fun for the boys, I'm sure. After Christmas, my husband and I found a nice bird feeder on sale for $1.00. Can you believe it? The birds love it but I bet they'll love yours just as much. Birds don't know the difference in homemade and store bought. HA
